Another day, another change in direction
I would like to say that I am saddened by the latest bombings in Egypt. Egypt has been for quite some time a safe harbor in a rocky ocean of the Middle East. With protection of all its people it has been unlike so many other countries. This latest attack brings into stark contrast that even those countries that try to take the upper road and decide not to stoop to a lower level is not immune to the cruelty of others. May these acts cease soon and safety for all restored!
So there is an anger in me. An anger at the waste of my time and talent. I know that I can do more at this place I work. I know that with the right group to work with and the right projects, we could really make a difference. Unfortunately I am stuck in a dead-end group that is more interested in blaming others and ignoring problems until it is too late and of course never listening to others. It is almost comical to watch (if it wasn’t so pathetic) emails go through on week one saying that this account is not important to us, do not spend time helping. And then two weeks later when someone gets a clue, all of a sudden we need to allocate a half dozen resources and unlimited equipment for the exact same account. What changed? Nothing! Just the way the wind is blowing that day. By week three those resources are pulled and the account is left to flounder. Sound like an effective way to run a business? It’s a wonder we do as well as we do, as they say “In SPITE of ourselves we are doing well.” (sigh), who am I but a lowly college hire to point this out, I am directed whichever way the wind is blowing.
